THE YOGA

HOW GOOD AT YOGA DO I NEED TO BE TO DO THESE CLASSES?

Trick question - there’s no such thing as good or bad at yoga!  However, you will find a mixture of Kula Flow, Kula Kick, Kula Refine and Yin classes on the timetable. If you are newer, or a little out of practice, we suggest starting with Kula Refine.

I WANT SOMETHING RELAXING, WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?

Yin, Yin and Yin! Grab some cushions and a blanket and get ready to enjoy a slower, deeper practice.

DO I NEED PROPS IN CLASS?

Whilst each class is designed for you to be able to do without any props, it’s handy to have a yoga block and strap to help you in some of the positions.  Yin is much more enjoyable with props; even just a cushion will add some support.

IS THE YOGA SAFE IF I'M PREGNANT OR RECENTLY HAD A BABY?

The yoga practices can be quite challenging.  We recommend you consult your physician before joining any of the classes.  However, the meditation sessions will always be perfect to provide you with a moment of stillness during this time.

HOW MUCH YOGA DO YOU RECOMMEND I DO?

Variety is key. The classes are designed so that there is something you can do every day.  We recommend mixing it up, and making sure you bring in some yin, meditation and pranayama sessions to complement your Kula Kick, Kula Flow & Kula Refine.   Think YIN & YANG.

THE MEDITATION

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I MEDITATE?

As often as you like.  Different styles of meditation recommend different things.  However, our guidance is to try fit in 1 session a day.  Even 5 minutes will make a difference ☺

WHAT TIME OF DAY SHOULD I MEDITATE?
Whenever you are most likely to sit down and do it! There are arguments for morning, evening, early afternoon…. However, we think whenever you can get the space to sit and be still, take it.

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE IN MEDITATION?

Absolutely not, the practices are all guided, so we’ll be right with you from beginning to end.

IS MEDITATION SAFE IF I'M PREGNANT OR RECENTLY HAD A BABY?
Yes, definitely.  In fact, what better time to allow yourself 10-15 minutes to be still and create internal peace and calm (even if it is just for 15 minutes).

WHERE SHOULD I DO MY MEDITATION?

Anywhere, you like.  Our first recommendation would be sitting on a cushion on the floor (the cushion elevates your hips to help you keep your spine straight).  However, on the couch, on the bed, on the bus, at your desk, under your desk ALL WORK.

THE PRANAYAMA

WHAT THE HECK IS PRANAYAMA?

Great question, pranayama exercises are simply yogic breathing exercises.

WHY SHOULD I PRACTICE PRANAYAMA?
Pranayama is a gateway to your nervous system.  Meaning by altering your breath, you have the ability to control whether you are in an energised, alert state (Sympathetic nervous system) or in a chilled “rest & digest” state (para-sympathetic nervous system).

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTICE PRANAYAMA?
Like meditation, this can be practiced as often as you like, it is a great tool to have in your toolbox, as just a few minutes could help you relax when stressed or energise you when you need a little boost.

WHAT TIME DO I PRACTICE PRANAYAMA?

Traditionally, it is recommended to practice in the morning and on an empty stomach.

DO I NEED ANY EXPERIENCE?

Not at all, we’re here to teach and guide you through each practice.

IS PRANAYAMA SAFE IF I'M PREGNANT OR RECENTLY HAD A BABY?

Not all pranayama sessions are safe if you are pregnant or have recently had a baby.  We will make it clear when the pranayama is not recommended for pregnancy, however we still recommend you consult your physician before joining any of these sessions.  However, the meditation sessions will always be perfect to provide you with a moment of stillness during this time.
